Last summer, one of Inter’s free-transfer signings was Mehdi Taremi, a striker with quality and experience who arrived from Porto after several strong seasons, including good performances in the Champions League with the Portuguese club. However, in this initial season in Serie A, the Iranian center-forward hasn’t really convinced the Nerazzurri fans.
During the recent league break, Taremi flew back to his home country to play with the Iranian national team. He did not feature in the first match, which ended in a victory against the United Arab Emirates, remaining instead on the bench. Following this latest disappointment in his season, the Inter striker revealed openly in a press conference the situation he’s facing.
Unfortunately, I’ve been dealing and playing with a muscular issue for five months now. I didn’t play due to a decision by the national team’s staff. Now, I need to recover from this injury to help Inter. Fortunately, in Milan, they are supporting me, and I’m very grateful for that. My only concern now is to remain in European football, Taremi explained.
Thus, the Inter forward has been struggling with a muscular injury for five months. Clearly, this issue is significant enough to impact his performances, both at club level and with his national team, contributing to his recent omission from the starting lineup for Iran’s latest match.
