At Inter, it seems the time has come for a generational renewal in defence, with this summer’s transfer market expected to bring concrete changes. Therefore, the club must also decide how to handle two current defensive pillars: Acerbi and De Vrij.
According to Corriere dello Sport, there is no certainty about their future yet, but their stay clearly seems uncertain. This uncertainty is not due to their performances on the pitch—both are delivering very convincing displays this season—but rather due to their age, which increases the risk of frequent physical issues, as has already happened.
While saying goodbye to both remains a plausible scenario, it’s also not impossible that Inter decides to keep them both for next season. This is mostly because finding players ready to immediately inherit their roles may not be straightforward, even though the Nerazzurri management has reportedly already identified several candidates, such as Hijen, Bijol, and Beukema.
