Among these details, as reported by Calciomercato.com, was also the lip-reading of Ederson directed towards referee Massa, accompanied by a clap, just before the second yellow card and consequent sending-off.

Here is what actually happened: During a very aggressive pressing move by Thuram, Ederson was expecting a foul to be called, but the whistle never came, forcing him instead to concede a corner kick. Immediately afterward, he protested the referee’s decision, sending Massa ‘to hell’. A yellow card, the first. The absurd coincidence here is that in the span of about a second, three people started clapping: Thuram, excited by his pressing; Inzaghi, fired up by the performance of his attacker; and finally Ederson himself. However, the Brazilian did it directly in Massa’s face, clapping his hands sarcastically and saying: ‘bravo bravo’. A yellow card, the second, and therefore the red card.
