Before the start of the match against Feyenoord, the Nerazzurri president Beppe Marotta spoke to Sky Sport, addressing topics regarding the new stadium, qualifying to the next round, and also transfer market affairs. Below are the words from Inter’s chief executive.
AGREEMENT WITH THE MUNICIPALITY OF MILAN – Certain legal details between the two clubs had to be finalized, but nothing problematic. We have submitted our proposal for the purchase of the San Siro stadium and its adjacent areas; this is a very significant action for the two clubs. With this acquisition, the clubs will contribute to the city’s development. I must underline the important role played by the Oaktree fund, which from the very outset was decisive in pushing forward this stadium project, out of respect for the city, for the club, and for our fantastic fans, who again this evening have turned up in great numbers.
NEW STADIUM – There will certainly be a new stadium meeting modern standards. There is currently a gap between Italy and Europe’s top clubs, and we want to give an impulse to the other clubs. As a football executive and a football man, I am confident we can initiate an important path toward the growth of Italian football.
FEYENOORD – The team has achieved a level of awareness to face difficulties, as was the case on Saturday against Monza. We should not rest satisfied with the result of the first leg; we need the right amount of respect for our opponent but also the strong conviction to qualify tonight.
NICO PAZ – I read about these market rumours linking Nico Paz with Inter. I must specify that the player’s current management lies with Como, and I believe Real Madrid holds a buy-back option, so the situation is complicated. He certainly is a good player, but we already have a competitive squad for the competitions we are facing at the moment. We’ll deal with transfer market matters in the coming months.
