The Champions League is about to enter the crucial stage with the conclusion of the Round of 16, set for Tuesday and Wednesday. Inter have a favorable position going into their return leg match after winning the first leg away against Feyenoord 2-0, and therefore start from a good advantage. However, some have already started thinking ahead.
As frequently seen in the past, Opta has recently released its latest predictions about each team’s odds of progressing through the various rounds and eventually lifting this year’s Champions League trophy. The company is well-known for collecting and analyzing large amounts of data and statistics, and through their algorithms, they published the following predictions.
The current favorite team to win it all is Liverpool, with a 23.9% probability of capturing the Champions League title. In second place, we find Barcelona with a 16.9% chance, followed closely by third place Arsenal, who have a 16.1% probability. Immediately behind sits Inter in fourth, with a 15.9% chance of lifting Europe’s prestigious trophy.
The Nerazzurri are even considered ahead of powerhouses such as Bayern Munich 8% and Real Madrid 8.9%. Lastly, Simone Inzaghi’s side has excellent odds to reach the quarter-finals 96.8% and even more than a 50% chance to reach the semi-finals 58.1%. Their chances of clinching a spot in the final, however, drop slightly to 34.5%.
