It had been a while since Simone Inzaghi had ended up in the crosshairs of criticism after a game played by Inter. After last night’s defeat in Florence, it was inevitable that the Nerazzurri coach would also attract unflattering comments. His team is not having a great time and this step risks compromising a journey that until now had shown few flaws.
In the pages of gazzetta.it, for example, this afternoon a criticism was moved regarding Inzaghi’s management of the locker room in difficult moments: “Excellent tactically, excellent in developing players, in creating a great environment, but… But maybe because of this capable of giving too many certainties to his players. If you’re the best for four years, but you don’t get what you deserve, maybe you lack a bit of adrenaline, of tension, which doesn’t mean nervousness, in continuity. Inzaghi spent five and a half years at Lazio, and now is on his fourth year at Inter”.
The coach of Inter, then, was compared to Antonio Conte, his successor on the Nerazzurri bench: “Unlike Antonio Conte who by definition burns everything, even his serenity, within at most a couple of seasons. He stresses the environment – from the company to the players – from the first day, to get immediate results that often come, as happened at Juve, Inter, Chelsea. Then he may end up breaking, by pulling so, perhaps too much, that emotional string. But that sporting venom is certainly at the base of his winning career. Well, maybe Simone Inzaghi needs, even publicly, to take and give less certainty, putting everyone – but everyone – always in question, because, and this is a truth, football is played with the head before even with the feet”.
