The controversy certainly hasn’t subsided post-derby due to that episode which caused a lot of discussion during the second half. Tainting the refereeing performance during Milan-Inter was indeed a blatant mistake made on the contact between Pavlovic and Thuram just before Theo Hernandez‘s slide.
An evident foul that could have indeed slipped by the referee Chiffi live from the field, but that could not go unnoticed by the Var room. Yet, during Sunday night’s appointment with Open Var on Dazn, the audio from the referees on that incident could have dispelled any doubts about the interpretation given to that contact.
Dino Tommasi, representing the Aia as a member of CAN in the last episode of Open Var aired on Sunday evening, February 2, instead dealt with other matches except the derby. In particular, the events of Atalanta-Torino and Parma-Lecce, were reviewed, while no word was spoken on Milan-Inter.
A silence that sparked great anger among Inter’s fans and on which, nearly 72 hours later, clarity has not yet been provided by the refereeing hierarchy. We’ll see if the images and recordings from the Var room will be recovered at least next Sunday, in the middle of the 24th round of Serie A.
