Simone Inzaghi spoke to Sky Sport after the Sparta Prague-Inter 0-1 match, to comment on the nerazzurri’s victory in the 7th round of the Champions League group stage. Here are his words:
QUALIFICATION – Are we close to a great result? Absolutely. A result made of great performances. We are still one point short, but the fate will be in our hands. This journey was not taken for granted. We played these 7 matches in the right way and now we are just one step away. I am very satisfied with the performance, for what we did on the field and how we stayed focused on a demanding match. We know the series of matches we come from. I am satisfied and I congratulated the boys and I also do to the fans, who, travelling every 2 and a half days, like us, is not very simple, but they were also very numerous tonight.
UNCERTAIN RESULT – We had closed it, Dimarco’s offside was by a stud. We created. After the goal we thought the match could go well, but they stayed closed and it was not simple. In the second half we raised the pace and we had to score the second goal.
CONCENTRATION – We had to have great concentration and determination. They are physical, they hadn’t played since December 15 and finding them again after 40 days did not let you know what you were encountering. ASLLANI – Too many criticisms? In my opinion he is doing great, clearly in his role he has Calhanoglu ahead of him. He has been working very well during this period, he is always ready. Then it can happen to make some mistakes in some matches, it also happens to Calhanoglu. He played a great match against Empoli and tonight without a booking I would have left him on the field because he is in great shape and is lucid in his choices and focused on the things I ask him.
