Despite a performance that received less than enthusiastic applause, even last night against Como, Hakan Çalhanoğlu was still able to carry Inter when they needed it most. At the start of the second half, the number 20 Nerazzurri indeed delivered a perfect cross from a corner kick which Carlos Augusto turned into a goal.

As highlighted in today’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, for Çalhanoğlu this was his 150th contribution to a goal since he began playing in the major European championships. This includes both goals scored and assists given to a teammate, which are practically evenly distributed with 76 goals and 74 assists.

In the top 5 European leagues, from 2013/14 – the year of the Turk’s debut in the Bundesliga – only four other midfielders have managed to do better than Çalhanoğlu in this period of time. These are Kevin De Bruyne at an astounding 223, Marco Reus 172, Angel Di Maria 170, and finally Dimitri Payet 162.

These impressive numbers have been gathered by Hakan Çalhanoğlu while playing for Hamburg and Bayer Leverkusen in the German championship and later with Milan and Inter in the Serie A championship. He is becoming more and more of an idol for fans of Nerazzurri and a cornerstone of Inzaghi’s team.
