Today, Andrea Zanchetta’s Inter U20 took to the field for the 13th matchday of the Primavera 1 championship. The young Nerazzurri suffered a 3-1 defeat on Genoa’s field, marking their first championship loss in over two months: the last one was on 22 September in the category derby against Milan.
The match was decided by goals from the Rossoblu scored by Fazio after just 11 minutes and by Ghirardello who scored a brace between the 36th and 54th minutes. Zanchetta’s Inter players had also managed to level the score with Lavelli at the 34th minute, but this goal wasn’t enough to change the result.
At a point in the season where Inter is leading in the Youth League, undefeated and with maximum points, this unexpected championship loss prevents the Nerazzurri from moving up to the first place in the Primavera 1 standings. The team were missing two key pieces, goalkeeper Calligaris and defender Aidoo, who were called up by Simone Inzaghi for the Serie A match.
Now we await the results of the other top teams to understand Inter’s placement in the standings after the end of this 13th matchday. Andrea Zanchetta and his boys’ next championship commitment is on Saturday, December 7 at 11am at home against Torino.
