In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Fabio Capello and Arrigo Sacchi discussed the opening weeks of Serie A, focusing on the Scudetto race and the strengths of the individual teams.
Here are their comments on Inter:
Sacchi: “Against Atalanta I saw spectacular offensive football, I was happy to watch it. Even if at times they still tend to retreat too much, to attack too little.”
Capello: “I saw them playing an enthusiastic pressing game with everyone: anger, desire, when they decide to get the ball back they have furious sprints. And all together: even the defenders attack. Favourite for the Scudetto? It’s the most ready, the most complete, the most tested in the game system. The most difficult thing for Inzaghi will be the turnover, watch out for the mistake he made at Benfica’s home changing more than half the team: you change two-three players at most.”
As for their comments on Lautaro Martinez and Thuram:
Capello: “Technically, Lautaro is stronger, Thuram needs to improve in that but he started strong. It will be a nice head-to-head.”
Sacchi: “The best way to score is to participate in the team game. I venture to say that the one who will participate more will score more.”
Finally, on the possible Ballon d’or for Lautaro:
Capello: “Not yet. For me the Ballon d’or is the best in the world: today I would vote for either Rodri or Vinicius.”
Sacchi: “We agree here. He still lacks the consistency of the best in the world. But such an Inter will help Lautaro to grow further.”
