The performance of Italian teams in the Champions League is once again at the center of debate. Four defeats out of four for the Serie A representatives in the European phase have sparked discussions, and among those who have spoken out most clearly is Riccardo Trevisani.

The journalist, speaking to the microphones of Radio Mana Mana Sport, framed the situation directly: “Italian football is embarrassing at the European level: for years you’ve heard me say that Inzaghi performed a miracle with Inter. And I repeat: Inzaghi performed a miracle with Inter.”

For Trevisani, the problem is not limited to a single negative result, but concerns the overall level of Italian football compared to other continental realities. “Italian football does not deserve to reach the semifinals, let alone the final: it’s a miracle if you make it to the quarterfinals. There are eight teams better than the best Italian one,” he declared.

The journalist then cited some recent results to reinforce his thesis: “Feyenoord beat Como, Brugge beat Inter and Villarreal beat Napoli.” Faced with this scenario, he ironically commented on the surprise over Roma‘s defeat against Real Madrid: “And the problem is Roma losing to Real Madrid?”
