Just over an hour before kick-off against Club Brugge, Martinez spoke to the microphones of Inter TV to preview the match. The Nerazzurri goalkeeper emphasized the importance of a positive start, recalling what was done in recent outings.
“I think it will be important to start well right away,” began the goalkeeper. “We need to do well from the beginning as we did against Parma, but we have to be careful because we are facing a team with great quality. However, if we do things well as in the last matches, we have a good chance.”
The Nerazzurri number one spoke words of respect for the opponents, highlighting the depth of the Belgian squad. “I think it is a team with great value, not only the starters but also those who come off the bench.”
On a tactical level, Martinez indicated the defensive phase as an essential starting point: “We have to work especially on the defensive phase and start from there because then we have the quality to score and win matches.”
