Hakan Çalhanoğlu is getting closer to returning to group training. According to Corriere dello Sport, the Turkish midfielder trained yesterday at the sports center with his teammates and is aiming for a call-up ahead of Saturday’s match against Parma.

However, starting from the first minute seems unlikely. The newspaper considers it more plausible that he will be used in the Champions League match against Bruges, given the need to carefully manage a player who is approaching 33 years old and has shown a certain physical fragility. The numbers are clear: 11 muscle injuries from the 2024-25 season to today, 34 matches missed due to injury, and a total of 211 days of absence.

Meanwhile, contract talks are also ongoing. Negotiations for the renewal, postponed by mutual agreement, have begun with an initial signal from Baccin to the player’s agent. The proposal includes a fixed salary lower than the current 6.5 million euros, with the addition of a substantial amount of bonuses also linked to the number of appearances, which would allow him to get quite close to his current salary.

Çalhanoğlu‘s intentions remain to be clarified, as he has been courted for two summers by Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe. Inter has never been open to a sale except for figures never reached by the Turkish clubs, but now the player could leave on a free transfer.
