On the eve of the match against Italy, Montella took stock of the situation of his Turkey. The coach, speaking to Sky Sport, confirmed that there will be several changes compared to the last match.

“I didn’t lack previews to give about the lineups,” said the coach. “We will change something; playing 4 matches at this level, it’s inevitable. We have very important absences, even if there had only been two games.”

Among the unavailable players is also Calhanoglu, a key element of the Turkish national team. Despite the emergency, Montella reiterated his squad management philosophy: “I strongly believe in gradualness and in introducing some young players.”
