Marotta presents the challenge at the Olimpico: memory of Mazzola and a test of substance

The challenge at the Olimpico has the flavor of a great showdown. Perhaps it’s too early to talk about the scudetto, but the atmosphere of a top-of-the-table clash is already in the air. Beppe Marotta, president of Inter, knows this well and, speaking to DAZN, introduced the match with words that blend memory and the present.

The Nerazzurri executive’s thoughts immediately went to Sandro Mazzola: “A Nerazzurri legend has left us, who wore this shirt for 17 years and helped create the Grande Inter of Helenio Herrera and Angelo Moratti. It’s up to us to preserve this memory; a club is great when it manages to fulfill this task. Within this memory are important values that we must take as an example and pass on to our young people within Inter and beyond. They are examples to be imitated.”

Then Marotta shifted the focus to the match: “I believe it will be an interlocutory result, whatever it may be. It will certainly be a great performance and a great opportunity to face a worthy opponent. The performance we are able to deliver will matter a lot. Roma has received much praise for the quality of their play; they are a very respectable opponent.”

The Nerazzurri president praised the qualities of Roma: “The great experience and quality of the coach, the concepts he has conveyed to the players regardless of who comes and who goes. The organization of play is one of the characteristics of this team, along with the large crowd that gives the push a team needs in these circumstances.”
