Cinquegrano, the former coach: reminds me of Dumfries for power and pace

Emmanuel Cascione, former coach of Simone Cinquegrano during his time in the youth sector at Sassuolo, spoke about the young winger in his interview with Gazzetta dello Sport. The player, after his experience last season with Inter’s Under 23 team led by Stefano Vecchi, has returned to the neroverdi and made the leap to Serie A, proving to be one of the surprises at the start of this championship.

“Who does he resemble? I’d say a powerful and fast wing-back, like Dumfries or Diouf,” Cascione explained to the newspaper, drawing a parallel with the Inter winger for his physical characteristics and dynamism. The coach recounted a recent episode: “The other day he was on the couch watching matches, and just as I turned on Bologna-Sassuolo, he was making the assist to Doig.”

On the potential shown by the youngster, Cascione added: “Did I expect to see him this high up? Once I told him: ‘You can make it, you have potential.’ Because physically he was a beast, then he had the desire and the right mentality. So yes, but to tell the truth: even just seeing him in Serie C was a great satisfaction.”
