Christian Vieri expressed his opinion on the start of the season for Italian teams, according to Adnkronos. The former striker identified Inter as the strongest team in the league and praised the work done by Gasperini at Roma, which he sees as one of the main contenders for the top positions.
“I expected Inter to be like this, they have the strongest squad in the league,” said Vieri. The former striker emphasized the confirmed expectations, while for Como he highlighted the continuity compared to last season. His assessment of Roma was particularly positive: “They started very, very well, with 12 points in four matches. You can see Gasperini’s work, he is one of the greatest coaches in the world, so if the club listens to him he can take Roma to the top.”
Vieri also praised Dybala, calling him “always number one, he is a great striker.” The former striker then previewed Roma’s upcoming commitments, including the clash against Inter and the Champions League match against Real Madrid: “It will be a cauldron, and Gasperini will have his players going at full throttle, it will be a great match to watch.”
Regarding Napoli, Vieri expressed confidence: “They are the second strongest team in the league, looking at the squad. I’m not looking at the first matches they lost in the league now, because in Milan they could have won in the end. In Italy, people always look at the result, almost never at the match itself.” According to the former striker, Roma “will fight until the end,” while Juventus and Milan are “a little bit behind, last year they didn’t do well. They need to bounce back.”
Finally, Vieri spoke about Mancini’s National Team: “There will be calm if we qualify for the European Championship and the World Cup, otherwise there will only be anger, but it’s not enough to just get the coach, he alone doesn’t solve the problem that in Italy remains that of the youth. The youth sectors in Italy need to be changed and it won’t be done.”
