Chivu at Inter: more goals needed, 94 shots in four games

The conversion rate worries Cristian Chivu. Inter has collected 94 shots in the first four matches of the season, with 27 attempts on target and just 9 goals scored. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the numbers tell of a team capable of creating chances, but still too imprecise in front of goal.

After the 4-1 win over Monza with 13 total shots, offensive effectiveness has progressively declined. Against Cagliari there were 31 shots, 29 against Napoli, and 21 at the Bernabeu against Real Madrid. The conversion rate dropped to around 3% in the match against the Sardinians and to 4% in the European match played in Spain.

Looking ahead to the match against Udinese, the Nerazzurri coach aims to regain more ruthlessness in the final third. Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram are once again available in attack, while Hakan Calhanoglu represents an additional offensive resource after scoring in the first two league games.

Chivu maintains a positive attitude despite the wasted chances: “Against Real we missed a great opportunity, but we have an evolved team that knows how to do many things. We are on the right path to grow even more in the future.” The goal therefore remains to keep up the production of chances, but to improve the ability to convert them into goals in order to consolidate the position at the top of the table.
