Inter showed personality in the away match at the Bernabeu, but something is still missing to compete with the biggest clubs in Europe. This is the analysis of Zvonimir Boban, who on After Party, on Sky Sport, commented on Inter’s debut in the new Champions League season.
“The feeling that Inter gives in European competition is that something is missing to be able to compete with the biggest clubs,” explained the former Croatian footballer on After Party. According to Boban, the team showed character by playing on equal terms against Real Madrid, dominating in the first half but then dropping off in the second. “In the second half, no, and Real could have pulled away. In the first half, Inter played their game: but precision was needed. That makes the difference at the highest level. Inter was not precise.”
A draw would have been the fairest result, he added: “In the end, Real won not without merit, but a draw would have been fairer.” Boban pointed out how the Nerazzurri had several chances against a Real Madrid that was “strange and disorganized, with little balance but a lot of quality up front,” but were unable to capitalize.
Regarding the other Italian teams involved in European competitions, Boban expressed confidence in Napoli, who he believes can find the right nights to make their mark. He praised Roma and Como, both in extraordinary form, while he was more skeptical about Juventus.
