Maicon returned to San Siro on the occasion of the big match between Inter and Napoli. The former Brazilian full-back gave some statements to the microphones of InterTV before the match, recalling memories linked to the Milanese stadium and analyzing the current moment of the Nerazzurri team.
“It’s always nice to come back here to the Meazza, we did great things in this stadium,” began the former defender, then recalling the importance of Cruz in his first steps with the Nerazzurri: “He helped me a lot when I arrived in 2006. When I come here it’s always a pleasure, let’s hope we can complete this day with a victory.”
On the current moment of Inter, Maicon showed confidence but emphasized the importance of confirming on the pitch their status as title contenders. “The team is the same, last season they did a lot and started well, they are favorites but have to prove it and let’s hope they can do it today,” he declared.
The former full-back then broadened his view to Tuesday’s European commitment. “Today is a direct clash, then Tuesday will be different. In the Champions League it won’t be easy, but if you show you are strong they might be a little afraid. Let’s hope Inter wins.”
