Benjamin Pavard shares the emotions of his return to Inter and looks ahead to tomorrow’s match against Napoli. Speaking to Dazn, the French defender expressed his joy at wearing the Nerazzurri shirt again and talked about the big match scheduled at San Siro.

“We certainly expect a tough match as always against Napoli, it’s an important game that everyone wants to watch and everyone wants to play. We are lucky to play in front of our fans, we are in good shape, and we will do everything to win,” said the player.

On his experience of returning to Italy, Pavard was particularly moved: “I am very happy, very happy, and especially when I returned to San Siro for Inter-Monza I got goosebumps, I was really happy to be back, to see my teammates again, this stadium, these fans. I hope to have a great season both personally and as a team.”

The defender also recalled the year spent away from Milan: “Even from Marseille, whenever I could, I watched Inter’s matches, I was very happy that in the end they won the Scudetto, actually we won the Scudetto because I played one match before leaving. I am also very happy about the Coppa Italia victory, I came back to give everything for this shirt, for the coach, for the group, and for the fans.”

On his personal situation, Pavard added: “Not too different, now I have a daughter, maybe that has changed me a bit. What happened last year is in the past, I am back and ready to give everything.”

The Frenchman spoke about his tactical versatility, referring to the role of wing-back used in the match against Cagliari: “As I have already said in other interviews, I am at the coach’s and the group’s disposal. If the coach decides to play me as a wing-back, I will give 100%. I usually play further back but in the past I have also played as a wing-back.”

Words of praise for teammates Jones and Stones: “Great players. Stones played many years at City, Curtis instead at Liverpool, two great clubs in England, they will bring us all their experience and we have already seen in training and in matches how important they are for the group.”

Finally, an assessment of Pio Esposito: “Great striker, he is young, he has room for improvement like everyone but he has an imposing physique, when you mark him it is very difficult to see the ball. I like the fact that he is a good guy and also a great player, I hope he will score many goals.”
