There would not have been any phone call from Lautaro Martinez to convince Cristian Romero to wait for Inter. This scenario is denied by Pedullà, who clarifies the situation regarding the Argentine central defender.
The agreement reached last Friday between the Nerazzurri and the player was subject to a sale that, however, did not materialize, leading the negotiation to a dead end. In the meantime, Atletico Madrid made a move today by offering the defender a salary of over 6 million per season and getting closer to Tottenham‘s request, which is at least 40 million.
But the Colchoneros are not the only alternative. Arsenal is also in the running, with Arteta pushing for the player. The Gunners have taken action in the last few hours and the defender’s profile is highly appreciated, even though relations with the Spurs, cold for years, need to be restored.
And what about Barcelona? For a long time Romero’s preferred destination, the Blaugrana are focused on Rodri and are about to sell Araujo. The Catalans should still be watched, because surprises are always just around the corner.
