The Nerazzurri club has set a precise deadline for the negotiation leading to Cristian Romero: according to Corriere dello Sport, Piero Ausilio has given himself a week, ten days at most, before deciding whether to continue the operation or turn to other targets. The deal with Tottenham remains complex and requires the resolution of several details, but the process has been set in motion.

At this moment, the Nerazzurri sporting director is working with the entourage of the Argentine defender, who has already given his availability for a move to Milan. Inter‘s offer is around 5 million euros net per season, with the addition of some bonuses to get closer to the 6 million that Romero currently earns in London. The contract would last four or five years.

Once an agreement is reached with the player, the Nerazzurri management will enter the heart of negotiations with the Spurs, who initially asked for 50 million euros for the transfer fee. This figure is considered excessive, but the Milanese club has not abandoned the track and aims to secure a deal around 40 million, with the inclusion of the usual bonuses linked to performances and objectives.

On the formula front, the Londoners are said to have appreciated the Nerazzurri’s intention to proceed with a permanent purchase, without going through a loan with an obligation to buy. Oaktree, the club’s owner, would be willing to go beyond the well-known financial constraints imposed so far. The goal is to avoid a deadlock as happened in other recent negotiations, taking advantage of the lead over competitors such as Barcelona, Arsenal, and Chelsea, who are currently trailing behind.
