The name of Curtis Jones remains at the top of the list for Inter and Chivu after Palestra and Solet were crossed off for different reasons. The Liverpool midfielder won over the Nerazzurri coach, according to Tuttosport, especially on the evening of last December 9th when the Reds faced Inter at San Siro in the Champions League. He is a quality and dynamic holding midfielder who made an impression.
The agreement with the player, born in 2001, has existed for seven months: Jones has given his consent to the transfer. The sticking point remains the agreement with the English club, which continues to reject every Nerazzurri attempt despite the contract expiring in 2027. Premier League clubs, thanks to their economic strength, do not consider the price in relation to the remaining duration of the contract. For Liverpool, the transfer fee is valued at 40 million and Inter’s approach of 25 million, including bonuses, was not taken into consideration. However, contacts between the two clubs have never been interrupted.
Jones has turned down inquiries from other clubs such as Nottingham Forest and has hesitated over renewal proposals: he only wants Inter. The new Reds coach, Andoni Iraola, would instead like to keep him. The challenge with Chivu is on. Before launching the decisive assault by concretely raising the offer above 30 million, Inter will have to sell midfielders: Frattesi, Asllani, and Akinsanmiro are the names mentioned by the newspaper.
