On the eve of the Coppa Italia final against Lazio, Lautaro Martinez answered journalists’ questions in a press conference. Below are the captain’s statements.
“We expect a different match than Saturday’s. It will be a tough game, they have many valuable players. Plus, it’s a final and there’s a trophy to lift, so we need to be ready. The stadium will also be full and that will be an added value.”
“The hunger is to win titles and trophies because in every competition you want to go all the way. We have the chance to play another final and tomorrow we have the opportunity to bring this cup home. The double is just a statistic, the fact that it has only been done once, but we are calm and our focus is entirely on this cup.”
“It was important to get out of the slump immediately, we managed to win the championship which was a goal for us and now we have the chance to win the second one.”
“There are always discussions because in a team there are 25 different minds, and those who have experienced the locker room like the coach know this. The coach has brought us energy, leadership, but at the same time he makes us smile in training and that’s important. The watchword inside the locker room is to win.”
“We are professionals, we respect the league, we respect Inter, we have to work seriously until the last match. Saturday was proof that the championship was a goal achieved but the important thing is to keep growing as a group and as a team.”
“I have definitely grown a lot with Chivu. Even though I had this calf problem, I worked very hard. I am happy with the season I had, for the team and for the coach. Some people had doubts about Chivu but he made things clear, we followed him and that was very nice and important for us.”
