Antonio Conte‘s statements after Napoli–Cremonese did not go unnoticed. The coach provoked the Nerazzurri by highlighting how the Partenopei won the Scudetto last year at Inter’s expense and took home the Italian Super Cup.
“Conte says that last year Inter won 0 titles. It’s true, but Inter was also criticized, but they weren’t eliminated, they didn’t finish thirtieth in the long group stage of the Champions League. There are 8 matches and in the end you find out you finished thirtieth. We can’t always cover up, as Conte wants, by sweeping things under the rug.”
If Inter had finished thirtieth, rather than losing the final to PSG, the criticism would have continued for all the following months and even today we would still be talking about it. It is unacceptable for a team to finish thirtieth in the Champions League after all the money spent according to Conte’s requests.”
