It is too early to talk about a completed cycle for Inter, with only five rounds into the start of the championship. Despite the objectively difficult start that the Nerazzurri have had so far in Serie A, the trust in the group that won the championship overwhelmingly last year from Simone Inzaghi and the directors remains rock solid.
Looking ahead, considering also the self-financing on which Inter’s market is based, a sort of revolution is not to be excluded, mainly to rejuvenate one of the oldest squads in the entire Italian championship. According to Calciomercato.it, Inter could even think of replacing five starters from next summer.
Starting from the goal, in England in recent days, the name of Guglielmo Vicario for Inter as an heir to Yann Sommer has come back into fashion. Despite the arrival in the summer of Josep Martinez from Genoa, the Italian has always remained on the Nerazzurri radar. A defensive department that would be completed by a single significant signing, considering the young age of Bisseck and Bastoni.
In view of the contracts expiring for Stefan de Vrij and Francesco Acerbi, Inter at the end of the season might be forced to search for a new central defender. The number one target is Scalvini who is currently recovering from the cruciate ligament injury. Alternatively, the names of Bijol from Udinese and Schuurs, who has been injured for a year, are valid options.
Vanderson from Monaco, a 2001-born Brazilian winger who would arrive in case Denzel Dumfries leaves, is very appealing in midfield. Another young talent already associated with Inter is Maurits Kjaergaard, a 2003-born midfielder owned by Salzburg. A perfect director who has been playing at a very high level for years, on whom to rush in case Calhanoglu is sacrificed, especially considering the expiration with the Austrians in June 2026.
Finally, eyes are set on the attack. If Inter decides to sacrifice either Lautaro Martinez or Thuram, the replacement could come on a free transfer. The big target is clearly Jonathan David, a striker from Lille who is unlikely to renew his contract expiring at the end of this season. There is also strong competition from Juventus for the Canadian, so it is possible that one of the two clubs may want to anticipate the investment as early as January by agreeing to pay about 10/15 million euros for his transfer under the control of the French club.
