After the excellent start against Torino, for Cristian Chivu the first defeat of the season already came on the second matchday of the league. A step back compared to the progress shown in the debut in the new Serie A, especially because it happened against a team that is, on paper, inferior and in front of the San Siro crowd, which instead was expecting another great performance.

A team attitude that was all too predictable, which this morning Arrigo Sacchi commented on in the pages of La Gazzetta dello Sport: “Criticism of Chivu? It’s inevitable. If you are the coach of Inter and you lose at home against Udinese, there can be no applause. Chivu’s Inter is halfway across the ford: it’s not clear if it’s his team or still Inzaghi’s. Patience is needed. I would like to suggest just one thing to Chivu: do everything possible to get into the heads of his players and convince them to follow the path he has mapped out. On Sunday against Udinese I saw a team that was not very harmonious and not very balanced. Harmony and balance are the foundation of any great team.”
