At the end of Inter-Udinese, a match valid for the 2nd round of the Serie A championship, the Nerazzurri coach Cristian Chivu commented on his team’s first defeat of the season to the microphones of DAZN.
Inter-Udinese, the words of Cristian Chivu
PERFORMANCE – “The match started well, but we weren’t fluid and couldn’t find the right play. We struggled to create superiority. Then, at the first difficult situation, there was the penalty against us and we lost clarity and motivation. We went into difficulty. Better in the second half, more desire and grit, but with the chances we had in the area we couldn’t create more.”
SECOND HALF – “What did I ask for at halftime? We needed more clarity, to find the plays, move more and make different runs. We needed to find more verticality, open them up and move the ball around more. As long as we had clarity, we managed, then it became a game of ‘let’s see what happens.’ We tried to put on 4 forwards, but Kristensen and Solet played a great game today.”
GROWTH – “You have to learn to manage moments. When you can play well, you have to do it, but when you need to get dirty, you have to do that too. Maybe a ball kicked beyond the line can hurt more than a combination. We weren’t strong after Torino, we’re not weak today. We’re always a work in progress and we need to find the right balance and work hard.”
JUVE-INTER – “Derby d’Italia? I don’t want to think about it, because there are 2 weeks to go and many will be with their national teams. I hope that the break after this match will give my boys a bit of serenity. I know that when you come back, you have more energy.”
