At the end of the draws that determined the eight opponents of Inter in the league phase of the new Champions League, Beppe Marotta stopped in the press area to answer questions from various broadcasters. Among them, the Turkish television TRT Sport also had the opportunity to interview the president of the Nerazzurri club and discuss the transfer market.

To a question about Calhanoglu, Marotta responded thinking they were talking about Taremi, causing great general astonishment: “The situation is that he has to decide what to do. We are waiting for his decision.” In reality, as officially explained by Inter, the Nerazzurri president was actually referring to the Iranian striker – who in these hours will have to decide whether or not to accept the offer from Olympiacos – and not to the Turkish midfielder.

This is the club’s clarification: “The player to whom president Marotta refers in the interview with Turkish TV is not Hakan Calhanoglu but Mehdi Taremi. The president understood that the question referred to the Iranian striker. Turkish TV will now also correct the interview. The president has now clarified to Turkish TV that Calhanoglu is an important player, present and future of Inter.”
