Today will be a key day for the future of Ademola Lookman. The Nigerian forward, who has been missing for a few hours, has in fact left Bergamo to send yet another signal of farewell. Yesterday, for the second consecutive day, he skipped Zingonia and did not show up for the training session, facing a very specific scenario.
If he does not show up at the Atalanta training center today either, he will have missed three consecutive training sessions. According to the regulations, as specified by Calcio e Finanza, the Bergamo club could suspend his salary.
This is the rule established by the collective agreement between Serie A and the Italian Footballers’ Association: “The obligation to pay the Salary, both the fixed and variable part, by the Clubs is suspended, upon Communication starting from the date of occurrence of one of the following two circumstances and for its entire duration […] if the Player is untraceable for three call-ups to training sessions or matches at least forty-eight (48) hours apart from each other within a period of at least seven (7) days.”
We will see if the desire to go to Inter is so strong for Lookman that he is willing to face even this rather extreme possibility, but above all if – after having disappeared without a trace – the striker will return to Bergamo.
